MYS BLUES 8 - 4 Tranent
The Blues entertained Tranent on Saturday in what turned out to be a great game with some good football being played by both teams.
1st Period
The Blues dominated the opening 15 minutes and it did not take long for the first goal, with Alex finding Keith with a good pass who drilled the ball passed the keeper who had no chance of saving the shot.
The game continued with the blues attacking and Callum scored a long range effort with Keith, Daniel and Blair O all scoring in this one sided first half
2nd Period
Some changes where made at half time, with Blair A making his debut for the club after joining in midweek.
Tranent started very well in this half and scored an early goal, although their play deserved a few more, but thanks to some good goalkeeping from Lawrie and strong defending from Ben and Callum Tranent could not add to their tally. Struan pulled a goal back late in the half.
3rd Period
Again the Blues had switched off a bit and Tranent came back into the game by scoring three goals which was deserved by their attacking play. Alex scored a late goal which seemed to have settled the team
4th Period
Spurred by Alex's late goal in period three, the blues started to find their passes again and after some good movement, dan found himself one on one with the keeper and slotted the ball home which ended a great game

A WINNING START (29/08/09)
MYS Blues 9 - 5 Pencaitland
The new season kicked off in style with a hard fought win over Pencaitland.
The Blues took their time to get into the game and where soon a goal behind with Pencaitland scoring early in the game.
Callum (2) scored the first of his two goals thanks to a long range effort and some assisting with a very strong wind behind him.
The goal of the game came early in the second half after some great play from Callum who had ran from his own six yard box right to the opposite touchline and laying the ball back to Alex (4)who had made a great supporting run from midfield and blasting the ball high into the net for the second of his four goals for the day
The Blues where starting to control the game and Keith (3) made sure the game was won by scoring his hattrick with three similar goals - standing in front of the keeper and waiting for the ball to be crossed in and skillfully flicking the ball round the keeper (I have to say Skillfully since he done it three times)
Pencaitland could have scored more goals, but for some good defending and some superb goalkeeping from Lawrie they could not add to their five goals

Game two saw the Blues v Tranent and this was a close game, but the blues edged this 1 - 0 with a fine finish from Daniel

DERBY DAY BLUES (07/06/09)
MYS Blues 11 - 0 MYS Blacks
It was the long awaited derby between the two youngstars sides and the blacks would have been confident going into this game having won the oppening game of the season against the blues as well as beating them last week in training.
Unfortunately the Blacks are slightly weaker compared to the Blues since the last time they met as Marc & Greggor have left the club and this showed in their play as the Blues took an early lead, Keith scoring the first of his three goals for the day.
The Blacks had some efforts on goal, but Lawrie was playing very good and not much was going to get past him today.
The Blues where pressing and it was no surprise that they scored again, a nice long range shot from Blair O and he was to do the same again later on in the game.
The goals continued from Callum, Dan (3) and Alex (2) his second being a nice solo effort from deep in his own half.
The blacks, to their credit kept going and where awarded a penalty late in the second half. Nathan stepped up and took the penalty, but hit it straight at Blair O (who had replaced Lawrie) and the rebound was hit over the bar.

BLUES UNLUCKY (23/05/09)
MYS Blue 7 v 8 Longniddry
For the first time this season the Blues had a full squad as they visited Longniddry and they where so unlucky to come away with a defeat.
The Blues started very slowly and where finding Longniddry hard to beat. The home side where 3 goals up early in the first half and where looking good, although the Youngstars did pull a goal back just before the end of the half, thanks to some strong running from our latest signing Callum.
The second period started better for the Blues as they where starting to find some space and where getting better at pressing the opposition, Keith had a couple of good efforts but against the run of play Longniddry stretched their lead and scored a further two goals with Ben scoring a late consolation for the Blues.
The Blues seem to be fired up for the third period and goals from Alex, Ben , and Blair M brought them back into the game. It could have been more but the Longniddry keeper was in good form.
The Blues where going for it in the last period and the deserved equaliser came after some great play from the boys. Callum found Dan on the wing and he cut inside to score a nice goal.
The Blues where going for the win, but a lapse in concentration and too many players forward resulted in Longniddry grabbing two late goals.
Blair O scored a late consolation for his first goal of the season, but there was not enough time for the Blues to get an equaliser.
Final Score MYS Blue 7 - 8 Longniddry

A BIG IMPROVEMENT (16/05/09)
Haddington 3 - 11 MYS Blue Stripes
A result that no one expected at the start of the game, but one to be very proud of.
The Blues started this game in a very positive manner and where passing and moving the ball round better than they have done all season.
Dan opened up the scoring with the first of his four goals thanks to some good wing play from Keith. Haddington had some good chances but thanks to great goalkeeping from Lawrie and an organised defence, their chances where restricted.
Alex was being very strong in defence and was gaining confidence going forward and it was no surprise that some of his long range efforts found the net. Blair M was getting into some good positions and his hunger for goal resulted in his hattrick as well.
Every one of the players can be proud of their performance and lets hope that this is a turning point in their season.

A BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE (09/05/09)
MYS Blue Stripes 2 - 11 North Berwick
After our 8 - 8 friendly last time out, The Blues would have felt confident with this game, but the confidence soon went as North Berwick scored with nearly every shot they had. The Blues where trying to get the ball forward but everyone in the team where just not at their best on the day and the game was over by the first half as North Berwick raced into a big lead.
Alex scored a consolation goal for the blues and Struan scored from one of his trademark freekicks.

LOOKING FOR A WIN (02/05/09)
MYS Blue 2 - 2 Tranent
The blues where still searching for their first win of the season, but this would not be their day.
The blues took the lead, an easy tap in for Dan, but as the game went on the Youngstars could not capitalise on their early lead. Tranent where proving to be difficult to break down and where managing to get more players forward which streched our defence, and they scored the equaliser to make it 1 - 1.
Dan scored his second goal of the game and the Youngstars where looking good for their first win, but poor defending cost them late in the second half and Tranent forced their second equaliser. The blues finished the game slightly stronger, but could get much shots on target.

A GAME TO REMEMBER (25/04/09)
Dunbar 8 - 7* MYS Blue Stripes
The blues where the visitors in what proved to be a very tough game both on and off the park.
The match started off well with the blues taking an early lead and looking good for their efforts. Dunbar came back into the game and where putting pressure on the blues and it was no surprise when they scored.
Some of the Dunbar players where being a bit agressive with their tackles which caused some complaints from both players and parents.
The second period was much about the same as the first half with both teams putting in a lot of effort. Dunbar made the game 7 - 7 with only a couple of minutes to go. The blues got a freekick and Struan scored from about 20yrds only for it to be chopped off, apparently the freekick was indirect. The Blues where agrieved at this and Dunbar went up the other end of the field and scored.
Final Score: 8 - 8, but the Blues feel that this game should have ended a draw and thats how we will look at it.

Pencaitland 4 - 2 MYS Blue Stripes
The blues where still looking for their first win of the season and started the game in a positive manner. The Blues took the lead through a well worked passing move.
Pencaitland fought back and took a 2 -1 lead at half time.
The Blues where under a bit pressure as Pencaitland where trying long range shots but where not really hitting the target. The boys scored the equaliser which was against the run of play.
Pencaitland kept the pressure up and finshied the game more stronger by scoring two more goals.
Despite the scoreline, the boys played really well in this game and where unlucky in front of goal.

A GUSTY PERFORMANCE (14/03/09)
MYS Blues 1 - 11 Aberlady
The conditions for this game where not ideal, howling winds and rain. For the first fifteen minutes the Blues where holding their own and playing well, but could not really penetrate the Aberlady defence. Aberlady made most of the conditions and before we knew it the blues where 6 - 0 down. The blues kept their heads up and tried to get some goals, but the Aberlady keeper was in great form and not much was going to get past him.
The Blues scored a goal late on, but the match was well over by then.
