Immense Display from the Under 8's
The under 8's put in a performance to be proud of, as they finished joint winners (with North Berwick) in the Dunbar Tournament
The opening game saw the Youngstars win 2 - 0 against Dunbar, thanks to some great defending and two goals scored by Gregor
Game two was against Haddington and again the Youngstars dominated and won the game 3 - 0, goals coming from Gregor x2 (again) and Alex
Game three was a dress rehearsal before the final with the Youngstars facing North Berwick. Daniel opened up the scoring with a class finish before North Berwick scrambled the equaliser.
The final (v's North Berwick) started as before with the Youngstars fired up for this. An early shot from Alex, saw the NB keeper pull off a brilliant save. Kieron opened the scoring early on and the Youngstars looked to have won the game, only to lose a deflected goal from a free kick in the closing minutes.

GOOD EFFORT FROM THE YOUNGSTARS (19/04/08)
Aberlady 6 - 3 Musselburgh Youngstars
The youngstars started very well in the first period of the game having a couple of good efforts at goal and it was no surprise that they took an early lead. Alex started the move with a good pass to Gregor who found Daniel free on the wing, once he had passed the last defender he took the ball to the edge of the box and buried a low hard shot which the Aberlady keeper had no chance of saving.
Aberlady came back strong and where passing the ball well and got the equaliser through sloppy defending from the youngstars as they could not clear the ball out of the box quick enough.
Another quick break from Aberlday saw them get the second goal, again from sloppy defending.
Score 2 -1
The second period saw the next set of youngstars boys on to the pitch and again we saw a positive start from the boys. They where unlucky to go a goal down early on with Jack having no chance of the goal
Aberlday had the momentum from the goal and they had another couple of chances, but from fine goalkeeping from Jack the score remained the same.
The youngstars made a couple of changes and the momentum was changing but they where havnig not much luck in the final third of the pitch, that was until Keiron who picked the ball up early in his half and beating a couple of players before unleashing a thunderous shot in to the roof of the net to force the equaliser
Score 1 -1
Period three got off to a slow start from the youngstars and they found themselves a goal down.
Gregor managed to score a fine equaliser by going on a solo run and slotting the ball home. The boys where pushing forward trying to get a win, but a nice finish from the Aberlday striker saw them go on to win
Score 2 - 1
Period four started with the youngstars playing into the wind. The game was flowing end to end, but the youngstars could not get past the defense from aberlady. The breakthrough came late on and it was for the home side. The youngtars tried for the equaliser but could not really test the goalkeeper.
Score 1 - 0
